Lost in Transaction

The Woodlands, Texas (April 1, 2011)
If you are a restaurant or retail business owner, chances are you’ve had to deal with credit card processing in some capacity. Unfortunately gaining a clear understanding of exactly how the process works is virtually impossible. You hear terms such as qualified & non qualified rates, transaction fees, statement fees, batching fees, terminal fees and the obligatory cancellation fee. You almost get a sense that the credit card processing industry was created and governed by a division of the IRS. Not anymore!
Terry McBurney, Principal of Republic Payment Systems has created a credit card processing firm that puts clarity and good old-fashioned customer service back into the equation. “As a firm whose revenue is based on pennies per transaction, it is imperative that we keep it simple. We want to educate and empower our clients…not confuse them!” states McBurney.
Republic’s simple approach to a complicated industry has proven to be a great commodity to business owners throughout Houston, Montgomery County and the State of Texas. As a result, Republic garners an unparalleled reputation merely through the number of referrals received from its customers. “We take great pride in earning every customers trust and maintaining our customer base through excellent service…not through lengthy contracts, hefty penalties and hidden terms.” states McBurney. “Our business model is quite simple. Each and every merchant account is on a month-to-month basis, we never charge a cancellation fee and our $0.06 transaction fees are unprecedented in the industry. We truly are in the penny business” he adds.
Many of the misconceptions in the credit card processing industry have been formulated by credit card processing firms which utilize telemarketers and unscrupulous independent sales agents. Intuitively, potential customers assume Republic falls into the same category however; that’s where any resemblance ends. “I spend half of my initial conversation with a new customer unraveling their confusion of the industry and the balance explaining how we can help their business succeed. Both are by-products of building trust” asserts McBurney.
Republic Payment Systems has many key strategic relationships with none being more formidable than that with Sysco Foods of Houston. “We continue to experience double digit growth each year and part of our success can be attributed to the dynamics shared between Republic and Sysco” states McBurney. “As a customer service minded company, working in unison with 150 well managed and highly trained individuals only raises the bar” asserts Terry
Republic Payment Systems is more than a just a local company. Terry serves as a Board Member for the Montgomery County Restaurant Association, is a current member of Leadership Montgomery County Class of 2011 and works closely with the Montgomery County Food Bank. He says, “My wife Jennifer, and our four wonderful daughters have lived in The Woodlands for over ten years and have developed a very loyal customer base. When dining, shopping or for business, we make it a point to always give back to those that help Republic remain the #1 provider in Montgomery County!”
